Will the head hold up sliding under furniture?

The pole is aluminum and the head plate is molded plastic on a swivel joint, so there's no fabric or foam to catch and tear. The pads are the only wearing part, and you get three in the box. Wash them and put them back on.

Are the pads easy to clean?

All three are machine washable and reusable. Pull the pad off the head, wash it, put it back — no scrubbing by hand, no throwing pads away every few weeks.
